At the “Zygogianneika” site, located between the dam and the village of Belokomitis, at an altitude of 1,230m., lies the Observatory, offering a spectacular view of the lake, the Thessaly plain and the Agrafa mountaintops and, if the air is clear, all the way to Mount Olympus.

Access is relatively easy. The main road that leads from Belokomitis to the dam is paved, but then it turns into a dirt forest road. This continues for about 1,5km through a magnificent landscape before leading to the Observatory.

After enjoying the view, you can continue your route to the point where you can view the back side of the dam, where the entire height of the structure is visible without being obscured by the waters. This also offers an idea of what the landscape looked like before the construction of the dam.
